Diabetes in Cats can be seen in felines of all ages, breeds and sexes and is commonly seen in overweight cats and senior cats.
Cats
Maintaining the health of your cat through continuous flea treatment is a necessary and ongoing procedure. Regrettably, there are no instant solutions available. The primary issue with fleas lies in their ability to survive for months without a host.
Congratulations on the arrival of your new Kitten.
Welcoming them home
In love with your cat? Ever wished you knew more about how to care for them through all stages of their lives?
Will I have to administer injections to my cat?
As a cat owner you will rarely have to inject your own cat. Most conditions are treated with tablets, capsules, fluids, creams and ointments or drops. The vet will often start a course of treatment by injecting a drug though. The only condition in which you, as an owner, will be required to inject your own cat on a regular basis is Diabetes Mellitus.
We believe that all pets should be identichipped. If your pet is not, this anaesthetic is an ideal time to have it done as your pet will not feel its implantation.
Some of you may still be wondering whether it is a good idea to neuter your cat. This is a topic that can be discussed at length with your veterinary nurse or veterinary surgeon, but here are a few things to think about.
Fleas can be tricky customers, due to the complexity of their life cycle and resistance to insecticides. The fleas seen on your pet are, in fact, only a small part of the problem (around 5%). The vast majority of the flea family is in the carpets, floorboards, furnishings and pet bedding in your home.
Can a healthy Cat get worms?
Did you know that worming your cat not only protects them, but also you too? It is very easy for infected cats to leave worm eggs on their coat when grooming and then we kiss and hug them and end up ingesting the eggs!
When switching your cat to any new food, gradually introduce it over a 10-14-day period. Mix it with your cat’s former food, gradually increasing the proportion until only the new food is being fed.
