Price Policy

St. Anne's Veterinary Group provides clients with a high level of clinical care, delivered with a high level of customer service. Maintaining a high standard requires ongoing investment in our people, their training and the equipment they use. Our clients trust us to deliver high standards and to minimise risk and maximise benefits for their pets. They also expect financial fairness and good value. We therefore make no attempt to be a low cost practice. Our aim is to provide a great product at a fair price. We are always willing to discuss our fees and the options available when funds are limited. We will always provide estimates on request and work with you to keep costs under control. You are always welcome to visit 'behind the scenes' to judge our facilities.

Payment

St. Anne's Veterinary Group continues to invest in staff and equipment to help you and your pet. This requires a considerable ongoing financial commitment. To help reduce our costs we require payment to be made at the time of each consultation or on collection of your pet after surgery or hospitalisation. If this is not possible then we request that you discuss the matter with one of our administrative team at the time. Please see our terms and conditions for further details.

Payment Methods

We accept VISA, MASTERCARD, SWITCH and AMERICAN EXPRESS as well as cash.

Estimates

We will always provide you with an estimate before any surgical procedure, or before admitting your pet for hospital care. Your Veterinary Surgeon will discuss the costs of any investigations or treatments of 'out-patients' at the time of consultation. You will receive an itemised invoice following each transaction.

Pet Insurance

We strongly recommend that you insure your pet. Modern Veterinary Practice provides the option of advanced specialist care at referral centres when appropriate. This can be an expensive service and pet insurance will allow you access to funds which will allow greater choice of treatments when your pet is unwell. We are an appointed representative of Pet Plan and recommend their insurance policies as comprehensive and fair. We are always happy to give advice on pet insurance.

Microchip implantation

We advise that all your pets are identified by microchip. Implantation is safe and the chip provides a reliable form of permanent identification of your pet. We have had many cases of pets reunited with their owners which would not have happened if they were not 'chipped' At St. Anne's we use the Virbac Back Home chips which includes free lifetime regisration with Pettrac. We can implant at any time but prefer to allow puppies and kittens time to grow and often implant chips at the time of neutering. It is a legal requirment to have puppies microchipped by the time they're 8 weeks old. We also recommend getting indoor cats microchipped.

Consultation fee - first dog or cat

Our standard consultation lasts 15 minutes, but we will always give you the time that you need with no increase in cost. The first time we see your pet for a problem, this fee covers the examination, diagnosis (excluding laboratory tests) and treatment plan. Additional fees apply for add-on jobs like nail clips, further tests and drug treatments.

Consultation fee - subsequent dog or cat

If we see your pet for a follow-up consultation for the same problem, then a reduced consultation fee is applied.

Consultation fee - first rabbit

When your rabbit is unwell or injured, this fee applies to the first examination.

Animal Health Certificate (AHC)

From 1/1/21 if you wish to travel to the EU or Northern Ireland with your pet you will need an Animal Health Cert. Your pet will need to be microchipped (£23.70) and vaccinated against rabies (£65.15). You cannot travel with your pet until 3 weeks after the rabies vaccine.

The AHC requires a veterinary examination within 10 days of travel, will last for trip of up to 4 months and can only be used for a single trip so you will need one each time you travel

For trips of less than 5 days it would be closer to departure as they may need tapeworm treatment.
There is an 'AHC application' form that is required, and It would help if our OV (Official Veterinarian) had this form from 3 weeks before travel so everything can be arranged in good time. Please call the practice or speak to DEFRA for advice on how to obtain this form.
We usually encourage owners to contact DEFRA too, just to check regarding any further requirements for travel.

AHC for subsequent animals

If travelling to the EU or NI, you can have up to 5 animals on one certificate. This price is for additional animals (up to 5 in total).

Prescriptions

We always aim to provide you with all the medications you need. If you wish to purchase Prescription Only Medication elsewhere you will need a prescription. To be consistent with our prescribing policy we will supply a prescription for the quoted fee to allow you to purchase a 6 week supply of a single drug. We do not currently give discounts for clients requiring multiple prescriptions as we do not give clients discounts for buying multiple drugs directly. The provision of a prescription is subject to an examination of your pet on a 6 monthly basis.

Puppy/Dog Vaccination Course

The first puppy vaccination can be given from 6-8 weeks with the second injection 2-4 weeks later when the puppy is 10 weeks old or older. Adult dogs are given 2 injections 2 weeks apart. Our vaccine provides protection against 8 infectious diseases of dogs including Distemper, Parvovirus, Infectious Canine Hepatitis and Leptospirosis. The quoted fee includes 2 examinations with a Veterinary Surgeon/Veterinary Nurse; 2 doses of the vaccine; the issue of a vaccine certificate and unlimited free advice on caring for your new dog!

Dog annual booster

We strongly advise an annual health check for your dog. It continues to be necessary to give an annual vaccination booster to maintain protection against the major infectious diseases. Current product licences allow us to give a full booster every 3 years and to boost the weaker vaccines annually. The quoted price includes a full health assessment and unlimited advice.

Kennel cough Vaccination

This vaccine is given once yearly to 'at risk' dogs. These include dogs going to kennels, sociable dogs, show dogs, dogs attending clubs or training and dogs taken on communal walks. It is a bacterial vaccine and must be given as a liquid into your dog's nose.

Kitten/Cat Vaccination Course - comprehensive

The first kitten vaccination can be given from 9 weeks of age with a second dose 3-4 weeks later. We advise that all cats that will be going out and are likely to meet other cats be protected against Feline Leukaemia Virus. Our comprehensive vaccine includes protection against Chlamydia which causes severe conjunctivitis in cats, as well as cat 'flu' and feline enteritis. The quoted fee includes 2 examinations with a Veterinary Surgeon/Veterinary Nurse; 2 doses of vaccine; the issue of a vaccine certificate and unlimited free advice on caring for your new kitten.

Cat annual booster - comprehensive

We strongly advise an annual health check for your cat. To maintain protection against these infectious diseases a yearly booster vaccine is required. Regular examinations of your cat allow us to pick up problems at an early stage.

Kitten/Cat Vaccination Course - indoor/cattery

For cats that will not meet other cats, or that need vaccine cover for a visit to a cattery, the cat 'flu' and enteritis vaccine is all that is required. The first vaccine can be given from 9 weeks of age with a second dose 3-4 weeks later. The quoted fee includes 2 examinations with a Veterinary Surgeon; 2 doses of vaccine; the issue of a vaccine certificate and unlimited free advice.

Cat annual booster - indoor/cattery

We strongly advise an annual health check for your cat. To maintain protection against these infectious diseases a yearly booster vaccine is required. Regular examinations of your cat allow us to pick up problems at an early stage.

Program anti-flea injection for cats

Program is a very safe and effective means of flea control. By giving your cat an injection we can prevent fleas from breeding in your house for 6 months! We also get to see you and your cat which gives us the best opportunity to monitor health. We will send you reminders to advise when the injections are due. Program is also available as a monthly oral product for cats and dogs.

Rabbit combined annual vaccine

Rabbits can be vaccinated from 5 weeks of age to protect against myxomatosis and viral haemorrhagic disease. This covers Myxomatosis and RHDV-1 and RHDV-2. This can be given to rabbits who haven't been vaccinated before or who have been vaccinated against all 3 things. If your rabbit has only been previously vaccinated against Myxi and RHD 1, then they will need a RHD 2 vaccine before having the combined vaccine the next year.

Routine Neutering Surgery

All of our routine spay and castration prices include; premedication to reduce the worry to your pet and initiate pain relief; induction and maintenance of anaesthesia; the surgical procedure including materials needed; individual monitoring of your pet throughout the operation by a dedicated nurse; injected painkillers at the time of surgery (including cat castrations); 48hour post-op check, and 7-10 day suture removal or wound check. Dog neuterings, cat and rabbit spays go home with a bottle of pain-relief medication for the first few days.

Dog Castration

We castrate dogs from Chihuahuas to Great Danes and our costs vary accordingly. Your dog needs to be starved in the morning and will come home that evening.

Bitch Spay

We spay bitches of all shapes and sizes and the cost varies accordingly. We continue to neuter bitches via a conventional mid-line laparotomy and ovariohysterectomy, which we find safe, effective and comfortable for our patients. Your Veterinary Surgeon will discuss alternatives with you.

Cat Castration

A routine procedure for us, if not for the cat. Your cat will come home in the evening and recovery is usually straightforward.

Cat Spay

We spay cats via a flank incision in most cases. Please discuss alternatives with your Vet. We spay the girls early in the day and they recover quickly and are usually ready to go home in the evening. Our price includes further pain relief to be given at home for the first few days. For your convenience you only have to come back for suture removal a week later.

Rabbit Castration

Rabbits do not need to be starved prior to anaesthesia. We give them a gaseous anaesthesia with a tube in their windpipe. The anaesthesia is very safe and recovery is swift. Your rabbit will come home in the evening and return for an early progress check after 1-2d and suture removal after a week.
