St Anne's Vets clinical director teams up with his son to run a half marathon to show their support for a pregnancy charity which has a very special meaning for them.

Simon DeVile, clinical director at St Anne’s Veterinary Group in Eastbourne, will be raising funds for Tommy’s in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday, April 2, with his son Jack, who was born eight weeks early following pregnancy complications.

Now aged 25, Jack is fit and well, but spent the first weeks of his life ventilated in a special baby care unit.

Simon said: “I’m fundraising for Tommy’s because I have experienced and witnessed the impact that pregnancy complications, prematurity and baby loss can have.”

The route takes in some of London’s most famous landmarks, including Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London, and is the only half marathon to go through both the City of London and City of Westminster.

As well as the half marathon, Simon has been raising money for Tommy’s by learning to bake and bringing his home baked treats to work.

Simon added: “In total, I hope to raise about £1,000 which will help Tommy’s pioneering research and the support it gives to families through every part of the pregnancy journey.”
